Mr. and Mrs. Schlosser

Weddings

Evan held the microphone in his hand. All eyes were fixed on him as he thanked the people who helped them make it to their wedding day. He turned his attention to his beautiful bride, Madison, who was listening to him from their sweetheart table. He reflected aloud about how Madison made him feel. It was a raw and honest moment that we were all invited into. To sum up his emotions, Evan said, “When I look at you, I imagine I’m seeing what God saw when He saw a world worth bleeding and dying for.” Echoing what he’d already vowed to Madison earlier during their nuptial Mass, Evan again promised to lay his own life down for Madison.

Before they met, Evan was discerning the priesthood and was planning to go to seminary. Meeting Madison and having his plans derailed would be the perfect example of God’s desires being different from our desires. As we grow in holiness, we learn to wish for all that God wishes and not to wish for anything that He does not wish. Being faithful requires flexibility and docility. That’s not just the case when we’re discerning our vocations, but this continues throughout our lives. Seeing Madison and Evan’s joy on their wedding day, along with the joy of all their friends and family celebrating with them, we were all so grateful to Evan for listening to God when He revealed His plans.

Evan and Madison, there will always be situations that arise throughout your married life that will first appear one way, but then God will pave another way. Just to briefly share a way we’ve experienced this in our own marriage, we thought we’d have a large, large family with many children. That was our plan. God, however, had something different in mind, and He’s blessed us with one child. When we think back to our own plans and desires, we can become close to bitterness. However, when we remember to desire God’s plans over our own, we see the tremendous blessings He has bestowed on us and we grow in gratitude for all we’re able to do.  Remaining docile and present to the Holy Spirit will guarantee that you’re always listening when God is talking, and it will keep your hearts joyful and happy. We wish you all the best! Thank you for trusting us with capturing these memories for you and your family!

Love,

Amy and Kyle
