Mr. and Mrs. Pell

Married couples often love things about their spouse that are unique to them—like little treasures that are only revealed after spending so much time together. We each notice things about the other that we cherish. As an example, when we’re at Mass and the priest is sharing something in his homily that Amy really agrees with, she will nod her head in agreement without even noticing that she is doing it. Who knows how long this has been going on?! It was only brought to her attention when Kyle pointed out the fact that she did this and that he loved it.

During Bridget and Tom’s Nuptial Mass, Fr. Kleinmann was speaking about the goal and purpose of our lives—getting to Heaven—and how as a married couple they will have the responsibility of helping each other attain this goal. He spoke so elegantly and encouragingly, making this truth clear for all. As he spoke, Amy noticed that Bridget was nodding her head in agreement. It was subtle, and likely happening without her noticing, but it was an outward sign that Bridget knew, agreed with, and was ready to live out this mission of getting to Heaven and helping Tom get there, too. We have no doubt that Tom felt the same, but like Kyle, he must not be a head nodder!

Bridget and Tom, you as individuals, your relationship, your family, and your friends are all beautiful witnesses to the truth of Jesus and the joy of the Christian life. It’s a huge blessing to live in such a way that allows you to experience the Kingdom of God on earth, and tasting the Kingdom propels you onward toward your goal of Heaven. Though you’ve established your own family, continue to lean on your larger family and friends. They will help you figure out how to live your vocation well! We all echo the expectant hope Elizabeth shared in her toast at your reception and cannot wait to see how God uses your marriage to help His Kingdom!
