The anticipation of Veronica and Troy’s wedding built as the bridesmaids stepped into the limo. They were about to ride across the campus of Mount St. Mary’s university to the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception. Veronica and her dad, Mike, would ride alone next. It was almost time for the limo to circle back around and pick them up. Amy headed to the car of Veronica’s mom, Maria Pia, to ride over to the church. Once in the car, Maria Pia invited Amy to join her in praying for Veronica and Troy. Over the next couple of minutes, Maria Pia called upon the intercession of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph. The words flowed from her lips in a familiar way. It’s plain to see that she has spent a lot of time praying for her children.
Throughout Mass, the reception, and all the interactions we had during Veronica and Troy’s wedding, Psalm 1 kept returning to our minds: “They are like trees planted by streams of water.” The Donovan and Fernandez families are beautiful, faithful, and close to Christ. They raised their children to share in this closeness with Christ, like trees planted by streams of water. There was a tangible closeness to Jesus throughout the day. Even when things went a little differently than planned (as things often do on wedding days) everyone remained calm and excited to celebrate the sacrament. Although the wedding and all its details were beautiful, it was clear that they were not the main focus of the day. The beauty came from a deeper spiritual beauty, one that shines only for those who are close to Christ.
Veronica and Troy, your wedding was such a joyful day. Thank you for letting us play a part in it! We have so much confidence in the Lord’s good plans for you and for your new family. You’ve been given such a solid foundation upon which to build. It’s such a blessed position to be in! We know that you will continue to be blessings to one another and to all whom you meet. We love being Catholic photographers because we love getting to walk with couples like you to the altar. Every phone call and message leading up to your wedding was a joy to partake in. We know the journey to your wedding day wasn’t always easy; there were plenty of challenges to face with COVID, but you did a fantastic job keeping the most important things in mind. Congratulations again! We will continue to pray for you.
Love,
Amy and Kyle
