After putting on her wedding dress, Kayla’s mom helped her put on a necklace that Jacob gave to her with the hearts of the members of the Holy Family. They give credit to the Holy Family for bringing them together, and the necklace provides a sign of their appreciation. There was much talk throughout the day of suffering, patience, purpose, and hope. Before Kayla and Jacob met, the Holy Family played a role in caring for them and bringing them into each other’s lives so that they’d be able to come together and form a holy family of their own.
One of our favorite prayers comes from the Book of Numbers. God is giving Moses instructions to pass on to Aaron and his sons regarding how the Israelites should be blessed. He tells them to say, “The Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord make his face to shine upon you, and be gracious to you; The Lord lift up his countenance upon you, and give you peace” (Numbers 6:24-26.) This verse was constantly coming to mind as we watched Kayla and Jacob’s family and friends celebrate with them throughout the day.
Kayla got ready in her parents’ home where she was showered with love and a knowledge of the faith growing up. Jacob was joined by his parents and all of his siblings, who now live scattered across the country and rarely get to be together in person. They both were joined by dear friends from near and far. The celebration of their wedding gave us a glimpse of what it looks like to live with the blessing of the Lord. We saw a few generations at once all living in this peace and presence of the Lord. It was a great inspiration to us to see this bird’s-eye view of a family so blessed.
Kayla and Jacob, when we look at these photos from your wedding or think back to our memories, we are filled with so much peace. God is so near to you and we hope that you always know how much He loves you and how much He has your back. The Holy Family brought you together, but their work has just begun! They will continue to be with you both, and your children, guiding you closer to Heaven each day. We will keep you in our prayers!
Love,
Amy and Kyle
