The church was filled with friends and joy. Abby and Christian sat perpendicular to the congregation, and their love and excitement for each other and marriage was evident. Father Petri’s voice filled the room as he reflected on the most basic and fundamental truths of our faith, and of marriage. Like the first paragraph of the Catechism of the Catholic Church says, “God, infinitely perfect and blessed in himself, in a plan of sheer goodness freely created man to make him share in his own blessed life.” Father painted this idea across the vast reality of our journey on earth toward heaven, as he explained that we’re all journeying for this purpose; with marriage, a couple’s paths cross, and they make the choice to continue with this journey together.
It’s a beautiful image because it’s simple and good. At times, people and events try to complicate what marriage is, but that’s not God’s intention. He intended that marriage would be a way for us to continue our journey toward Him WITH another. Abby and Christian were surrounded throughout their wedding day with family and friends who have clearly shown them a good example of this type of marriage.
Abby and Christian, your marriage and relationship will continue to be so beautiful if you continue striving to know God as individuals first, and then together as a couple. It’s an amazing journey to not only love Him, but to love Him together. Your wedding day was such a joyful one, and it was a great start to a wonderful, happy life! We’re so excited to hear about all of the good things the Lord plans for you! You’ll remain in our prayers, always.
Love,
Amy and Kyle
