Mr. and Mrs. Loan

As Christians, our time on earth is spent moving closer and closer to heaven. At times, we even get a taste of heaven on earth. The path to sanctity is rarely a straight line, but instead weaves this way and that as we battle the concupiscence within ourselves. How can we hope for salvation when we make so many mistakes? In no way other than trusting in the mercy of God.

Having the privilege of shooting Catholic weddings—and working so closely with many men and women striving for holiness—we’ve heard many stories about people’s journeys to Christ. Erica and James shared theirs with us during their consultation and we were deeply moved and encouraged in our own faith. At times in the past, they individually made decisions and excluded God. Living with those decisions deepened their desire to put God front and center moving forward. Their story reminds me of Revelation 21:1 which reads, “Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away.” God recreates so beautifully. We see this best in the new creation of Christ after His death and resurrection! By turning toward God, Erica and James are participating in that new creation, too.

Erica and James, we simply adore you, your friends, and your family. What an incredible celebration your wedding day was! Your turning to God has not only blessed you as individuals, but your girls, your extended family, and your friends. Thank for you sharing your story with us and inviting us to be a part of your wedding day! We continue to be encouraged in our faith each time we think of you. We will continue to pray for you and your family, and we are happy that we live close so we can continue to be around you!
