Years ago, on December 28th (the feast of the Holy Family), Becca was baptized. She’s had a devotion to the Holy Family her entire life, so it was fitting when she and Kyle picked this day for their wedding. There is no better model for married couples to turn to than the Holy Family. Mary, Joseph, and Jesus modeled the way to Heaven for us. Becca and Kyle took time during their Mass to dedicate their marriage to the Holy Family. This was beautiful to see! We’ve seen many couples dedicate their marriage to the Blessed Mother, but turning to the Holy Family is a rarer, but incredible, idea. It made us think of something Pope Benedict XVI once said.
Speaking of Saint Joseph, he said, “Dear fathers, like St. Joseph, respect and love your spouse; and by your love and your wise presence, lead your children to God.” If the goal of the Christian family is Heaven, then how great the need for husbands to become like St. Joseph. Women have the Blessed Virgin to whom they can turn as a role model and friend, but St. Joseph seems to be less common in conversation. In Pope Benedict’s quote, he is alluding to how necessary Joseph’s role was in raising Jesus, and how essential the role of the father is in leading children to God. Becca and Kyle spending time on their wedding day praying to the Holy Family has set them up with wonderful role models for their marriage. They both come from families with parents who have shown them the beauty of a faith-filled marriage. Now, armed with their parents’ examples and the help of the Holy Family, they are ready to lead each other and their own family to Heaven.
Becca and Kyle, it is so edifying to spend time with you and your loved ones. Thank you for trusting us to capture photos of your wedding day! We had so much fun being with you and celebrating your marriage. You’ve set a great example for all of us in turning to the Holy Family! We’re still praying for you, especially asking for the Holy Family’s care and protection, and can’t wait to see how God blesses you in the future.
