When we hear the word “heart,” we think of love, and vice versa. The two are intertwined. Colloquially, we speak of the heart and love almost interchangeably at times. “Follow your heart” often means to pursue what you love. Being around those whom we love can cause a flutter in our hearts. When JJ proposed to Lulu, this love-heart connection was present.
As JJ prepared to ask Lulu to marry him, they hugged and Lulu leaned her head on his chest. She immediately suspected something like a proposal was coming because she could hear and feel his heart thumping loudly in his chest. He then got down on one knee and asked, “Will ‘Lu’ marry me?”—a little inside joke of using “Lu” in place of “you.” Later that night, Lulu remembered that she had been wearing her Fitbit all day, and when they checked the data from the day, right at the time JJ popped the question, her heart rate shot through the roof (and they have the screenshot to remember it)!
Lulu and JJ, there is something so beautiful about the elation that accompanies early love. It’s a gift that changes and deepens with time. That fresh excitement slowly turns into warm familiarity as the years go by, and they are both so good. It is such a blessing to be able to say, “I found him whom my soul loves” (Song of Solomon 3:4). We pray that God will continue to pour out His grace and strengthen your love as you prepare for marriage and beyond!
In Christ,
Amy and Kyle
