Paige and Ryan

engagements

The Holy Spirit has always led the way for our business, and we do not doubt that this is what God wants us to be doing. The always-rotating puzzle piece is who we are meant to photograph. With each inquiry that we receive, we undergo a process to determine if we’re a good fit for them, and if they’re a good fit for us, too. The first step of the process is to check our calendar and see how their wedding day fits with our schedule. We prefer to space out weddings, but we have and will make exceptions. When Paige and Ryan inquired with us, we saw that we had a wedding within a month of their wedding day, and pretty much determined that we’d say no. However, we always have a consultation call as a part of our discernment process, because it’s impossible for us to discern well without it.

We sat down for our call with Paige and Ryan unsure if we’d take on their wedding day, but we left the call with Paige and Ryan hoping that they would pick us to be their photographers! If we’re going to step away from our daughter and shoot two weddings in one month, we only do it when we feel 100% confident in the match. Paige and Ryan were engaging, lovely, and focused on all the right things for their wedding. There were a lot of elements in their story that reminded us of ourselves ten years ago while planning our own wedding. We always say that our goal as photographers is to provide a photography experience to our clients that we ourselves would have wanted, and we become even more excited about that when we see ourselves in our brides and grooms. Not only did we see similarities in Paige and Ryan, but they’re also from and getting married in Connecticut, where Kyle was born and raised. Our kind of people!

After they booked us as their photographers, we met up for their engagement shoot in Georgetown. We learn so much about our couples during their engagement shoots, and they learn a lot about us and what it is like to be on the other side of our cameras. Paige and Ryan were easygoing, happily trusted us, and went with the flow of things. There was no grasping at perfection; they simply enjoyed their time together and gave us freedom of control. We were able to capture so many charming locations around Georgetown, and the evening flew by much too quickly. Now our biggest complaint is that we have to wait a year until their wedding to hang out again!

Paige and Ryan, you two are exactly the type of couple we love serving! We are thankful to God that our paths crossed and that we have the honor of capturing your wedding photos. Couples like you remind us of why God has called us to do this work. We are praying for you throughout your engagement, and can’t wait to celebrate with you next October!

In Christ,

Amy and Kyle
