Mr. and Mrs. Kalinsky

Weddings

Giving 100% might feel like a lot to commit to, but it can be a safeguard for your marriage: you give 100%, and so does your spouse. During his homily, Fr. G spoke to Michelle and Pawel about how their marriage will surely succeed if they give 100% and if they let God be involved in 100%. Their loved ones in the pews already knew that this would surely be the case for Michelle and Pawel, because they’ve had the privilege of watching them do this throughout their whole lives and on their journey to each other. For their first date, Michelle and Pawel included attendance at Mass as part of the day. How beautiful that they invited God in and shared that day with Him in a way as intimate as receiving the Eucharist! Michelle and Pawel have essentially said to God, “Come on in” since day one together.

During toasts, we heard about the couple’s inspiring patience and resilience as they prayed and waited for their vocation. They were both feeling called to marriage, but God’s timing is often not what we expect, and the years went by, and they continued to wait and pray. Time passed, and they each persevered in the wait for God’s plan to be revealed to them. At no point would their desire for marriage lead them to settle. They knew that God’s timing and ways are not like ours; they are higher. Michelle and Pawel’s family and friends were the support that carried them through and helped them reach this day.

Now, on the morning of their wedding, Pawel held a white handkerchief embroidered in Michelle’s handwriting. It said, “I’m so glad it’s you.” This is a saying Michelle and Pawel started saying to each other, and it gives all of us a peek into their relationship and love: “I’m so glad it’s you.” Their desire for marriage stemmed from wanting to find and love the right person, and neither of them would settle. They knew God would bless them, and they patiently waited, and their patience and trust ended up being an incredible witness to everyone celebrating with them at their wedding. There is undeniable beauty in a soul who trusts fully in its maker, and Michelle and Pawel are two examples of souls like this.

Michelle and Pawel, your wedding was a celebration unlike any other! You are clearly loved so deeply by your friends and family, and it’s just so wonderful to see good things happening to good people. Thank you for your witness to us all. You inspire us to trust in God’s goodness and perfect timing for our own lives. We think we speak for all of your loved ones when we say that we’re so excited to see what the next chapter holds for you two!

Love,

Amy and Kyle
